Because mayb we want our feet to get wet, or mayb we r just going somewher unimportant or somewhere close, or maybe we're wearing jeans and we dont' wanna mess up our white kicks.
BTW: When you wear white tennis shoes (nike air force, etc.) with blue jeans and it rains, it gets blu dye on your shoes. Nice, right?

Dopey suburban girls even now wear flip-flops on the streets of Manhattan -- coming in to shop from NJ and LI etc... it's too funny. They think they're cool: "as seen on MTV". When it rains, of course -- sidewalks + foam flip-flops are MORE FLOP and slip-flops, and that tiny plastic peice between the toes, can pop leaving the girl to realize that she was, in fact, dopey to wear them as she hops to hail a taxi. (But, then gets downright disturbing when you see grown men wearing them around...)

if i wear flip flops in the rain it's always cause i didnt know it was gonna rain and i was already out shopping! i love flip flops in the summer there awesome and cute. i have all colors

I'd much rather being flip flops in the rain than gym shoes. Snow is a different story.

Some girls like flip flops.They are casual and comfortable. I would hardly say they are trashy. Trashy is posing half naked in a Santa skirt and placing that picture on a public website. Save it for the strip clubs and save the flip flops for the rain.

Because maybe they don't like shoes and flip flops are almost like not having a shoe on. Flip flips are not trashy but you wouldn't want to wear them to a formal either
