IMO, it's because team basketball has gone the way of the dodo. The Knicks (being from Bronx, NY and now living in Tx, I hate ragging on them but I'm so pissed off with them it isn't even funny) are a perfect example of how it is with so many teams - you have a bunch of me-first, overpaid underachievers and semi-stars who don't deliver the goods. I was around during the time of the 80s teams and early 90s teams, and I can tell you there was so much depth in each conference because the teams believed in team basketball! Look what happened to the Lakers this past year, talk about going from 60 to zero (an exaggeration but still, compared to how they were when they were playing as a unit). The real loser here is the hardcore fan, who year after year pays for tickets just to see a team barely reach .500 and witness more boneheaded mngement deals. What is your opinion as to how the NBA can improve? Memo to Comm/Owners/Whatever: it's not finding another MJ. It's going back to basics

The media is blowing thing way out of proportion. Over exposing the bad things and under exposing the good things.

They should have a limit for guarenteed money. I mean players deserve contracts that are big but to many teams are over the cap. I think the limit would be lik 15 mil of a contract guarenteed after that your on your own if you miss the season or get waived.

Also I like rookies to go back to three year deals with option of a fourth. Most dont get enough playing time in two years they need tthat extra year.

Also the main thing is Big men dont want to post up no more. Making the game all from the Perimieter. There is probably more 7 footers in the game now than at any time in the history of the leauge yet also has the fewest low post players in history to the ame is out of balance.

4th They should have nights where avg fans can get the front row seats and be right up front with the big cats now you have to pay thousands to get two seats for just one lousy game on the floor.

This country is so driven by the all mighty dollar that it will often trade ticket sells for morals and values.

The NBA as a whole has lost control. You have a bunch ill mannered young men decorated in tattoos making obscene amounts of guaranteed money that take the game for granite.

Playing in the NBA is a privileged, and that needs to be established by the league.

So many of them are showmen and not true lovers of the game which we had in the 80's and early 90's.

Going to an NBA games these days is just amusing scenery.
The kids get a kick out of watching the dunks and clients love the free tickets. Why pay for that. Stay home and watch the game.

You are better off buying season tickets to a NCAA team. Where integrity, true passion, a desire to win, and a love for the game exists.

I think it starts with coaching at the youth level, and placing an emphasis on team play instead of individuals. You're right that it's often me-first, but that's only because kids have had it stressed to them that they need that attitude to reach the NBA and be a superstar. Take a look on the playgrounds, and you'll see lots of fancy moves and dunking, but not a lot of sound fundamentals.

The Knicks are a mess because of their "me-first" leader, Mr. Thomas, who has surrounded himself with similar guys like Stephon "Team Cancer" Marbury. The guy puts up big numbers every year, but his teams unfailingly do better after he's left town. The Knicks have been like that for the last few years, with guys like Stephon and Allan Houston, good talents but not team players.

Overall, I do think things are improving a little. Carmelo (despite his idiotic punch) and Wade are both guys who I think are good team players, and I see more of that from some of the guys coming in now. I think some of the recent US failures in international tournaments are starting to wake people up, but the "me first" attitude will continue until we start stressing to kids that it's not the attitude of a winner.

I think the NBA has some work to do.

#1 Stop having guaranteed contracts.
#2. Pass the freakin ball more.
#3. Shorten the season (60 games would be great)
#4 New Commissioner
#5 More Minority Owners/Management Representation

the majority of the players cannot shoot very well, except dunks; there is no team concept; the players are selfish on court; they all travel when dribbling; free throw percentages have been decreasing for the last 30 years on a regular basis; the players must play too many games; the teams that win regularly play good defense and have good ball movement; most players today don't want to pass or play defense; they all want to be a Sportscenter highlight, winning is secondary; I used to go to 10-20 Bulls games a year 20-30 years ago, but the game is now boring.

their comish.... He is the most stupid person to ever run a sports league... He bans pointless stuff. i.e. The athletic tights that a few players wore. THEY WERE FOR MEDICAL PURPOSE ONLY! I mean come on, tights AREN'T a fashin statement. Another was the banning of taking off warm ups on while waiting to go in.

ALSO, the BALL WAS STUPID, he had many complaints and it took a damn petition to make them change it.. he doesn't listen, when he does pay attention, he doesn't to the right things.

NBA sucks and has sucked for the past couple of seasons. the NCAA is SOOOOO much better right now.

The players get paid the big bucks and are good so they think they can act in any way they want, treat anyone anyway they want without reprecussions. As the dude from philadelphia now may be learning, you can't act that way and stay on a team forever it is bad for moral. Sorry I forgot his name and didn't want to say someone elses name and get it wrong.

1) rules need to be strenghtened

If you ever watched Allen Iverson play(and you like b-ball, and u know the rules) then you know that he carries the ball half the time. Along with Kobe and his walks he does.

2) their all babies who make millions

If you watched the Nuggets-Knicks game, u know this already.

Did anyone see Carmelo Anthony succer punch that dude, then he ran!!!!!!!!omg, how can you run after u punch someone, i mean come on.

3) their all superstar-wannabes

None of them can play basic basketball. (passing, shooting)

They all dribble until they get 1 foot apart from someone, then they shooot it, only a few can really pass the ball.

yea i liked the older times seeing Magic ,MJ, L.Bird,David Robinson play also those Lakers and Celtics, etc.but today its hard looking for teams playing TEAM BASKETBALL. Its all about playing for stats.Perhaps the league should encourge more about playing together as a team.
