How about cherry shrimp instead?

You could put 3 ghost shrimp in a 1.8 gallon, but cherry shrimp are much smaller and more colourful (and more prolific!)

Which ever way you go, they are both easy to care for. They are scavengers, and will eat pieces of algae pellets, zucchini, crushed fish flakes.

They do, however, poop surprisingly large amounts, so make sure you keep up with weekly water changes (a clean turkey baster is a good tool) to keep their water clean.

Both should be given lots of plants to grasp on. Real ones, if you can have a fluorescent light, but silk plants will work too.

They are easy to take care of. Feed them flake food and give them algea/bottom feeder disks as well. Other than that just keep the water clean.

they just eat regular fish food and they love algae wafers. Also when you see them about to have babies separate them from everyone else until the babies can survive.

Ghost shrimp would be awfully hard to see.

=)
