"Love of the game" yeah, we'd like to believe that. If you're comparing to runaway contract baseball, then "there isn't much money" due to the cap, but hell, even the minimum is much more than some professionals..

Well in the USA there is a lot of money in Basketball, look at Michael Jordan , Shaq. o Niel etc.!!!

intresting.........cuz Shaq is reciving $39 M for his 3 year contract
and other players around the amount , but yea in some cases you need to have the love for the game
