So please don't preach that to me.
But, i would like to know if it is LEGIT before i download it and start using it.
My friends use it and have had no trouble with it.
Thanks.

Also, i had someone tell me, that Limewire was going to be shut down due too, illegalness. But, you can still get it, and share. Which i guess, they were incorrect.

It is legal if and only if, you own the rights to the file, or the file does not have any rights.

Downloading and uploading music is not legal 99.9% of the time because the people uploading and downloading do not own the rights to the music.

The software itself is legal, just like I can make a PDF of an essay I wrote, upload it to Limewire so you could download it. But we all know that is not what Limewire is used for.

Limewire is a marked man LOL... They put that lil release up for you to chek when downloading the program about youre not using it for copyright infringement lol, because we ALL have no intention of downloading copyright music or videos, not at alll LOL. But, it cant have very long left, they got Napster and Kazaa and Edonkey, Limewire is the best thats left, so ild guess its days are numbered. That said, its an EXELLENT P2P program. Efficient, Fast, and No Adware or Spyware attached to it, and aside from that lil window popping up asking you to upgrade to pro, its headache free. Ive noticed that when you search in it reently tho, that you dont get as many results for Video as you use to, and what you get, often wont download, but for music files, its tremendous. It is worth downloading hun. But if you want movie files or whatever, you might wanna go with Emule.

here's how peer to peer sharing works: all of the people simultaneously make their music (or whatever) files available to the whole community and then SHARE with each other. since it is not distribution, then it is difficult to prosecute. Lime wire uses its users' personal computers to do most of the work, that's why it cannot be considered to be a distributor of copyrighted music, which is why it's "legal" technically.

So the law has gone after those who are distributing music files, which are the users of the program, but they don't know it. By default, you are sharing your files in exchange for downloading some. This makes YOU the distributor of copyrighted music, NOT Lime wire. there is little or no penalty for actually downloading it.

So what you need to do to make it legit is go to your options menu and make sure that you aren't sharing your "my shared folder." it upsets some users, but it avoids legal trouble.

LimeWire is 100% illegal and anyone who uses it doesn't respect the law or the artists who created the music. It's no different than stealing a CD from a store! I encourage everyone to stop using it and start respecting the law and the music industry!

The program itself might be legal, but they can say it's only intended for something that's legal and can't be held responsible if people put up copyrighted stuff on there.

As for legit, what are you referring to? Legality? I've been using it for years and nobody's come knocking on my door telling me to stop. It works great, I hardly ever have problems with the songs/videos I download. Also, there's no spyware or pop-ups that come with it!

Limewire is criminal. that's a filesharing device. that's a device that facilitates you to proportion records, in basic terms as a knife is a device that facilitates you to decrease issues and in basic terms as a automobile is a device that facilitates you to commute from place to place at intense speeds. you need to use a knife to decrease up your vegetables or you need to use it to mug human beings. you need to use your automobile to get you to paintings or you need to use it to run over pedestrians. Likewise with Limewire. you need to use it to legitimately proportion freely shareable records (GPL'ed application or paintings and music released below imaginative Commons licenses) or you need to use it to infringe on copyright through illegally sharing commercial music and movies. in case you opt directly to apply it for the latter, you're breaking the regulation in maximum countries, and you additionally would be exposing your self to malware (viruses, trojans, and so forth.). in case you opt on risk-free, unfastened songs, visit Jamendo or the unfastened promotions area of the Amazon MP3 save.
