Sir J is correct. If you can't afford the Microsoft Office System OpenOffice.org has programs which enable users to create and save documents which are compatable with Microsoft Office Programs.

It also has a spreadsheet program, and other office products and many people are turning to this as an alternate solution to the expensive Microsoft Office Suite.
You DO have a basic word processing program on your system which comes with the Windows OS. It is called Word Pad and you will find it under:
Start-All Programs-Accessories-Word Pad.
However, it is a bare bones word processor without any of the features of either Microsoft Word or the OpenOffice Word program.
Good luck and have a great Holliday Season!

Your best (and cheapest) choice is openoffice.org. It is a very stable office suite that is now in its second generation. I have used it since it was in the beta test and love it. I do use MS Office at work because all of the computers that we have there come pre-installed with it.
Openoffice is a great environment, it is nearly identical to Word and you can save into the Microsoft file formats. The download is under 100MB so it does not take too long to download, unless you are on a dial-up connection.
Good luck and have a Happy Holiday!

You could pirate it, but the better option is to download and use openoffice. It is a program that acts very much like Word, it can even open and save Word documents. But, it is totally free! Try it out.

For the program not a file go to www.download.com and download a copy of limewire or bitcomet. You should be able to download a whole copy of microsoft office 2003 or even 2007. But becareful of viruses. Also this is illegal. Or you could go to the microsoft website and download a trial version.

Get OpenOffice ( http://www.openoffice.org ) if you have Windows, or NeoOffice/J ( http://www.neooffice.org ) if you have a Mac. Both of these programs will read and write MS Office files, and will do everything else that MS Office does, but they're free!

you CAN'T! that's called piracy. there is a "Word Viewer", but you can only view, print and copy existing word docs on your computer. otherwise, you can try borrowing someone's microsoft office cd.
