G5 error: I tried connecting to a server and after it asked for password it gave me a alias error! How do i fix this? What is the proper way to connect to a server?

Are you connecting to a windows server in a windows domain? If so, your network password has expired and needs to change.
1) Call your techincal support person and have them reset your password
2) Logon to a Windows machine, reset the password, reboot the MAC and your should be able to access the server.

depends on how the network is setup. sounds like maybe the network may have implemented security at layer 2.
check with the network admin...
