Maybe she was under the impression you hadn't given her a second thought and was surprised at getting a card from you. I don't think you can read into her response and get an answer to whether or not she likes you - to find that one out you'll just have to speak to her more and take it from there.

I would not think on it too much. If it happened to me, I would probabl assume that the other person either didn't know that I gave cards, didn't think your friendship/relationship was that close, or that they truly didn't expect the card. I would most likely interpret the comment as that they are not interested in being more than friends at the moment, or that the other person did not know that you felt that way about them. Well it means she thinks your such a tight wad you wouldn't cough up for a card, you probably are not in the lottery syndicate and you probably dont have a cup of tea out the machine u probably got a flask, it means she doesn't have nothing to do with you and she doesn't count you among the people she would expect to get one off. now if she says 'Nice card big boy' then she wants you! Stop pissing about and if u like her ask her out, or for a kiss under the mistletoe!!!!

First of all you should have saved the money for the cost of the card. When she said "unexpected" This admits her guilt of not knowing anything. Chances are throughout her entire life, she don't even suspect anything.
