You just need to give her some time, As long as you are consistant with how you handle her she will start to trust you and warm up to you. Just be sure to have daily contact with her...hold your hand out so she can smell you and be patient. Maybe start give her a treat to come out followed by some pets. She is still young.. so probably isn't going to warm up right away.. but just give her a little time.

Having a happy hampster pet = time and dedication. I am the proud mother of a boy hampster and good hampsters aren't made in a day. First off they are nocturnal so they only like to be taken out at night (they can get quite honory if you try during the day). Second, you probably WILL get bit at some point in the process of gaining trust with the hampster. You need to take her out from time to time, prolly about 1 once every day or two for a few weeks, handle her for 5-10 min (she's getting to know you so expect some poop!) then if you have a "ball" put her in that and let her explore the house, then pet her before you put her up... after several weeks of this and using a treat to get her out she should begin to come to you more freely.

Hampsters can be awesome pets, but they are not for people who don't have time to develop a good realtionship with them.

One hint on the ball : if you get one, before you leave her in it you may want to consider putting a piece of clear tape over the opening so it won't come undone and you end up looking for her for hours. Something about the rolling around will sometimes open the door.

Hamsters need to have handling when they are young or they will not be as friendly when mature. I suggest holding ut in your palm and stroke along its back bone at least two to five times a day for a minimum of 5 minutes each time for the first week or so. Also you can pick her up and put her back in the nest 3 or 4 times as you are stroking her back. They like it. The reason she is like that could be that hamsters are nocturnal animals. They normally sleeps all day and wake up at night time. You can hear this, for example, if you get a ferris wheel and hear her 'exercise' on there all night. Hamsters have two pouches in either side of their mouth cavity and they store food pellets, shavings, etc there.

Since you have a female hamster, you need to watch her, it be careful, when she matures and when she's in heat. That's the time she will be just vicious as h... and you may even get bitten if you hold your fingers near her nostrils.
