In my case it would be my brother who is handicapped. I can tell he would have been very intelligent otherwise and that his life would have taken on a completely different shape. I know it is fantasy to think about such things but on a psychological and spiritual level this question may be quite revealing.

Mike M., Interesting theory however if you had the power to heal your healing would also fulfill a life purpose and the universe would continue as it should.

I would heal my nephew who is schizophrenic and has had 4 breakdowns. . .Unfortunately due to his young age he had to stop taking medication. He was starting to exhibit signs of parkinsons - he was shaking uncontrollably and losing his eyesight etc. He is a very smart guy and a brilliant artist and painter. He tends to get very paranoid over things us "normal" people don't. Like microwaving food, etc. I am very proud of him because in spite of his illness he has a 5-yr degree in fine art, a great job, his own place etc. I am just afraid for him (and my sister, his mother) because if he has any more psychotic "breaks" it is possible that next time he may not recover. That is why "A Brilliant Mind' is one of my favorite movies. It shows mental illness from the point of view of the one who is ill. Rather than vice versa.

Many blessings to you who has such an open giving heart and loves his brother so much that he would post a question such as this on the web.

PS - I believe that those who are handicapped are here to teach the rest of us very valuable life lessons.

It is a very interesting question - not least because it raises the question of what is meant by 'healing.' Assuming that we keep to people living (otherwise I think I would have taken away Jacqueline du Pre's multiple sclerosis) and we keep to physical ailments rather than mental or spiritual distress, I would heal one (all, for preference) of those poor men who took part in the recent drug trial that went badly wrong and now know that they will develop one form of cancer within the near future.

I would heal my Grandma Lorraine, who suffers terribly from arthritis, among other illnesses, such as depression. But you're right: if we had the power to heal, we would still be in perfect balance with the Universe. :)

I can think of too many people, and I'm glad I don't have that decision to make. I also believe that we are all here with our fault's and defects to learn or teach something. By changing someones health I may be taking away their "life's purpose".

By dad is an insulin dependent diabetic who has lost his vision and had is espophogus removed last year due to cancer. I would cure him so he could see his granddaughter and enjoy life again. He is only in his 50s but it's like he's in his 70s.

My mother. She was abused by her mom during a time when how you raise your children was a personal matter. Her values have been warped her whole life and she spends her time with a barrier between herself and the rest of the world.

My girlfriend for sure. Almost all of her joints and muscles are gone. No tendons left in the ankles, bad knees, bad elbows, bad neck, bad shoulder, bad back, usually has headaches because of it all too. Her hips will pop out of joint too.

My ex husband. It hurts me immensely to see the dejected looks in our daughters' eyes because he is too selfish and drunk all the time to be a father.
