I would say either a Kelly Clarkson song...(Since You've Been Gone) or another artist that one of the judges produced.
Audition material can be rough. Just try to put yourself in the judges shoes and ask yourself what you would want to hear. Something that starts with some excitement, but peaks at the end is always good. You don't want to have more than a few measures of monotone singing.

If you want to demonstrate range, do "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Hehe. It's a strange song, but damn you have to be able to hit VERY high notes and VERY low notes. Click the link below to listen and buy if you want to practice.
Plus, I doubt anyone ever used this for an audition before...though I could be wrong.

Sing what you think you can sing and you have to be 16 or 18 to audition. I'm going to audition when i am old enough.

Stuff from the 80's. Watch the show, see what songs the judges seem to respond to and start practicing them.

"Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. If you sing that song well enough, you'll definately go to Hollywood.
