this is for my friend, i am trying to get her an outfit for christmas. she is about 165-170. but i am unsure of her size in pants. Does it matter if they are lowrise, or midrise?

I would say a size 16, depending on the way the jeans are made. Some clothes are just made differently, so a 16 in one thing might not have the same fit as a 16 in another.

It also depends on what country you're in... a 12 in the US is a 14 in UK... or is it the other way around?

Totally depends on your waist & hip size. I would start trying around a (US) 16, though. (If you're waist is small but not your hips, got with odd sizes in the junior's department. Start at a 15.)

Well, I'm 5' 2" and 106 lbs, and a size 5 or 7.

170lbs is alittle much for being 5'3". I'm thinking maybe like size 13. You need to know how many inches around the waist. Cause they could be really buff (and not fat) and thats why they are heavy.... ya know. I don't know, sooo....

I would guess you to be around a 15 juniors or 14 misses.
It all depends on what brand, how muscular you are... yada yada.
measure your waist and hips and go from there :)
good luck, babe

you should wear whatever size fits you around the waist. find a good seamstress and have them hem the bottoms so that they fit. make sure they're comfortable around the waist and legs though, and they'll fix the bottoms for your perfect pair of jeans.

You need her measurements. You can't really tell from just weight, but I'm guessing between between size 14-16. HTH : )

That's going to depend on your body build. Muscle mass weighs more than fat cells while taking up less room.
