Not saying for all of the barzilians or south americans, but lots of south american players grew up in poverty and didn't go to school, and they stayed home during the day and went out to a little park or something and play football with their friends. Also they have a passion for football.

They are given soccer balls in their cribs instead of teddy bears. They are so obsessed with soccer that they televise team practises. The great weather they have there for year round play and a country with so many people really helps. I have even heard a theory that playing on the beaches helps them to control the ball in sand which much more difficult than grass.

Because that's all they do growing up, play soccer. The U.S. would be just as good or better if our premier athletes played soccer all their lives instead of basketball and football. As it is, our best athletes, which are also the best in the world, mainly play basketball and football, so soccer gets our second-rate athletes.
