Since I've returned to work I feel that my milk supply is decreasing. I wanted to see if there is any way of increasing my milk supply. I'm currently pumping (manually) but its hard because of my 11 hour schedual and its tiresome to use my manual pump. (I'm getting an electric one soon) but I feel since i'm not breastfeeding as often I feel my supply decreasing is there anything I can take (tea, supplements) to increase my milk supply ?

LISTEN TO ME - I JUST WENT THROUGH THIS!!!! You need to get Fenugreek supplement. Take 3 casules, 3 times per day (total 9). You will notice you and your pee start to have a maple syrup smell, but that means that the levels in your body are high enough to have effect. Your supply will increase dramatically. My doctor is very level headed and had never mentioned anything herbal before, but she told me that there is scientific data to support fenugreek increasing supply. It really worked and I never had to pump to increase my supply. The smell is weird, but the effect was great. I swear I am not a earthy hippy herbal person, but this one worked for me. Google it - you'll see.

Breasts produce milk based on demand ... the more you nurse, the more you can. If you cut down because of work, and aren't pumping regularly, your supply will diminish, but won't stop. Try expressing the milk several times a day with the electric pump. You should be fine. Remember to stay hydrated ... drink fluids! Good luck ... it's the right thing to do and the very best you can do for your baby!

The more often you pump the more milk you will start to make. I would invest in an electric pump ASAP, when ever you have a couple minutes at work try to pump a little a couple times during the day. Drinking water and taking your prenatal vitamins is also important.

No pump is as effective at stimulating milk production as your baby nursing, so let him nurse as often as you can when you're home. You say you're getting an electric pump "soon" - get it now, you can even rent them (contact the La Leche League for help), thatll make it a bit easier. Good luck and hang in there, you CAN do this!!

It's been a while, but I believe that drinking as much water as possible will help. Also, more frequent pumping. Nursing your baby as much as you can when you are home is also very important.
Good luck to you, and congratulations for continuing to breastfeed. It's so great for your baby.
