When I was a kid and if my siblings and I acted up in public, my mom would drop everything and bring us all home. She would not tolerate our bad behavior. I don't see that too often these days.

Sometimes kids get out of control and the parents do the best they can. You can't control a child like a robot, but parents can help monitor and help correct their behavior. Too many times parents just keep saying "Stop it", over and over again without any consequences.

The idea of being able to press charges and fine a parent like this is thought provoking. But I'm not sure if I agree with it.

Do you have kids????? Just because your kids scream in public doesn't mean you are a rotten parent. I have two kids and sometimes they still act up even though I'm not "letting them". Now it is a different story if you just LET them and do nothing. What about people who want to call CPS on you just for spanking your kids in public. You have to be careful what you do now days and that is sad b/c I believe in spanking. It worked when I was a kid.

No. There is very little a parent can do to prevent a child from screaming in public, now , do to very strict child abuse laws.
In many states, it is deemed child abuse if a parent slaps a child
across the face or spanks them for discipline in public or in private.
Most toddlers who encounter the temper tantrum stage do not respond to anything and have to just scream it out.
As a parent, I've found the best method of dealing with temper tantrums is to ignore the child completely. If they do not recieve any attention at all for their antics, they stop doing it very quickly.
A child's temper tantrum is usually their way of trying to control
the situation and get attention they feel they deserve, right then.
A parent isn't rotten if they allow their child to scream in public,
the government hasn't left them with any other choice, given what's called child abuse these days.

I don't have a problem with children who misbehave when they are out..all children will do that sometimes.I DO have a problem with parents who won't do anything about it or laugh and think it is "cute" that they are doing this.Children have to learn what behavior is acceptable and what is not, when they are out in public.

I guess it depends on the circumstances. I have hauled my kids out of stores during tantrums but I will not give in to what they want to shut them up.

I think rotten parents who cave in to a child having a tantrum raise a spoiled brat who always wants their way, and grows up into a spoiled adult.

If you have a toddler who has a melt down in public and doesn't get their way you'll only have it happen again one or two times. If your kid melts down and you give them what they want (in order to shut them up) they will keep having tantrums.

YES!!!
I hate going to Super Hell (WalMart). Ten minutes of screaming kids, and I have a migraine.
If I am eating, why do I have to deal with other people's problems?

you must not like children but the parents don't care what you or anyone else thinks. They are rude for doing what they do.

no, you jackass. stop asking the same question.

babies and kids scream and cry. that's the way the world works. sometimes they can be comforted. sometimes they cannot. it's not like the parents want to hear the noise any more than YOU do.

grow up.
