Well, I've just looked at their website and the are having a Christmas Market, a Christmas Cracker event and a Christmas Craft Exhibition.
There is no mention on the site of anything called Winterville (or indeed Winterval).
You are either making this up or have your wires crossed somewhere.

Their website refers to Christmas throughout, and doesn't mention Winterville once. I couldn't find a single reference to a Winterville or Winterval event in the Sunderland Echo.
So at this point its up to you to prove that this even happened before anyone can comment on it rationally.

Perhaps Sunderland has been twinned with one of the many towns called Winterville and is actually celebrating that? If not I recommend you contact the mayor's of Winterville's and let them know that their towns name is being taken in vain!

Happy CHRISTMAS! Sod the PC brigade. Have you noticed that BBC Breakfast TV has no tinsel, tree or anything? Have they been advised by British Airways HR department or are they just gutless traitors?

if the people that are at the top "bosses" can get us to do away with Christmas, then they don't have to give us any bank holidays and then we work through, the next is to get rid of Easter, and then we only have 2 bank holidays a year,

Gone way to far. At the end of the day its meant to be a religious holiday so why should give up our beliefs to please others, when we have had it banged into us to treat other religious holidays with respect if they do not involve us!!!
