27-4-6 - insane!! Anyone else as impressed as I am by their record and by how consistent they've been this season? This Ducks fan is stoked!! I hope they can keep it up. :)

While I agree that Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermeyer are the glue and I pray for no injuries to them, the rest of the defense is solid! Francois Beauchemin and Sean O'Donnell aren't as talked about, but they are awesome!! And, let's not forget JS Giguere - good to see him back to his old form.

I am no Ducks fan, but I have to admit that they have as good of a shot at winning the Cup this year as anyone, maybe even moreso. Having 2 out of 3 of the best defensemen in the league will do that for you. That said, they were pretty close before they even got Pronger, so even if they lose one of them, they have a shot if the goaltending stays hot. They have youthful enthusiasm in talented young forwards like Getzlaf, Perry, Penner, and Kunitz. They have experienced leadership from the likes of Selanne and Marchant. If they stay healthy come playoff time, then they've got a real shot at it this year. A whole lot can change between now and then, and upsets are common in the league, but right now if you had to put money on it, you'd have to pick Anaheim and Buffalo in the final. Good luck!

I like this team a lot.
I will say this though. If either Pronger or Scott Niedermayer gets hurt, they're in big trouble. Their defensive depth is suspect after those two. Here's hoping they stay healthy.

It's hard to say at this point, but so far they're for real. Buffalo
is another team that got off to a really hot start too, but they have
cooled off a bit, but they are still leading their conference standings.
The Stanley Cup playoffs is when we will find out what these teams
are like when it counts the most.
