There's a list of average SAT scores for some well known colleges somewhere there. I'm not sure where you're applying to, but a perfect score will* get you somewhere, even if it isn't Harvard or whatever. ;)

To the person who was wondering about the highest possible score, they've since changed it to 2400.

For the sake of discussion, I will assume you have an unweighted GPA of around 4.0 in almost all honors/AP classes, some really good extracurriculars, and good essay-writing abilities.

A 2220 on the SAT I is pretty darn good. Not incredibly special, however. It would be somewhat to your benefit if your writing score was your lowest score because some colleges don't use it.

Although by itself your SAT I puts you in a decent spot, it's that 2400 on the SAT II (provided you didn't pick insipid subjects) that will give you a good shot at pretty much any school you'd like. Apply Ivy for sure. Not many schools besides the Ancient Eight require the SAT II for admissions anyways.

SAT scores don't get anyone in anywhere. But they keep them out of some schools.

The good news for you is that your SAT scores will not keep you out of any school. In order to get into a top school, you need more. If you have a high GPA, will graduate near the top of your class, have done at least a few extracurricular activities and can write a good admissions essay, then you can go to any school you like.

If you are missing one or two of those details, you may get some rejections -- but should be able to get into a decent university.
