Common sense is the set of prejudices acquired by age 18

It's knowledge based on understanding of the external world. What the majority of functional people would agree is the best way to handle a situation, to behave, or to think. It's nontheoretical and grounded in reality as most people perceive it. It would be the opposite of arbitrary or dysfunctional in common situations. Common sense would tell you not to stick your hand in a lion's mouth or to drive slowly on icy roads.
Here's a more formal definition:
One meaning of common sense (or, when used attributively as an adjective, commonsense, common-sense or commonsensical), based on a strict deconstruction of the term, is what people in common would agree: that which they "sense" in common as their common natural understanding. Some use the phrase to refer to beliefs or propositions that in their opinion they consider would in most people's experience be prudent and of sound judgment, without dependence upon esoteric knowledge or study or research, but based upon what is believed to be knowledge held by people "in common". The knowledge and experience most people have, or are believed to have by the person using the term.

something that simple folks take for granted but others who are out of their realm of comfort, need help achieving. Like people who are self sufficient vs. those who 'couldn't possibly' do that by themselves. Common sense is usually the solution to an everyday task that with a bit of thought has a solution.

Common sense is supposed to a way that you make decisions. Like a DUH that's what it's supposed to be. But common sense is not a good way to decide anything because everyone has a different way of thinking. What makes sense to someone, may not make sense to someone else. So they may say, what is common to ME makes sense. i guess you can't really rely on it.

Oddly enough, many highly educated people totally lack any form of common sense whilst many poor children with little or no education have tons of it to spare. It is also known as being 'street-wise', 'self-preservation' and 'making the best of what you have'.

In actual fact, I do not know why you had to ask such a question, either you lack common sense yourself, or have not yet realised your potential in relation to it. No offense intended.
Happy Christmas..................
