I registered at 17 weeks. Mainly because my family and my husband's family kept asking for things that we wanted (for Christmas presents, etc). I think having a registry early is a good thing...people can look at what you want and get it at any time. It also gave my family a heads up knowing prices of everything. For instance, my mother-in-law is purchasing some pricer items such as the crib...the registry gives her a little time to prepare before getting it for the baby shower. But then again, you don't have to use the registry for only baby shower purposes. People can purchase things from you registry for different occasions (birthday, Christmas, etc)

I think a baby shower typically takes place at about 7 months. My sister is throwing me one in March and I am due in May.

Enjoy! :)

ALSO, you don't have to wait to register until you know the baby's gender!! I registered and I still don't know what I'm having. I just put all gender nuetral colors (greens, yellows, etc) on the registry. This is especially a good idea because you typically only have 1 baby shower for your first child...say you register for all girl stuff and then your 2nd child is a boy...then you'd have to buy all new things. I think it's good to put the major stuff (car seat, pack and play, stroller, etc) in a neutral color that way you can reuse for the next baby!

Well you should wait to register until you know the sex of your baby right after you find that out you should go register for baby gifts and i would have your baby shower when you are like 5 or 6 months cus then you can play really cute games with your belly and the baby and all that well good luck and Congrats and Merry Christmas

Usually about 2 months before the baby is born becaue u never know if it will come early. Register before the baby shower. I have also noticed that these days people ignore the damn registry anyway.

I agree with other answers that you have a long way to go until you sort out the baby shower. It's a sad fact that many pregnancies end in a miscarriage, and so it's generally best to keep it on a 'need to know' basis until 13 weeks, just in case.

You don't throw yourself a shower if that's what you are asking. Some people never even get one even if they do register. I would not start registering anywhere until you are about 7 months.

Now is a bit early to start registering however, I would start looking at items now and begin to narrow down what you want. There are so many new products that it is wise to research them. If you have any reason to think you may have your baby early then plan accordingly.

you're like i was as soon as i found out i was like yay baby shower. i was ready to do it at 3 months. but everyon kept telling me to wait. they say its best to wait until you are 7 months. i waited until i was 6 1/2 months. but i say why not do it after 20 weeks when you find out if its a boy or girl. and registering depends on how many places you'll go. maybe a month.

I would register after the first trimester, which is after the 12th week.

As far as the baby shower..I never heard of someone throwing themselves their own baby shower. But if you must....then you should have it in your 7th or 8th month.

Good LUck and Congrats
