No, there are absolutely no techniques that can do. You just have to bear this one thing in mind and it will help you to see things realistically all the way around.
"Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, so expect the unexpected at all times".

Well first of all you have to decide whether your expectations really are too high or are your friends' not high enough? If it is something that really matters to you then you can't afford to lower your expectations or you will be cheating yourself.

You have to try to be as reasonable and logical as possible when you evaluate these expectations.

You just need to take people for who they are and stop trying to compare all the time. If you find yourself being too critical you will destroy the relationships. If the standards they live by aren't what you believe in then you should find new friends to play with. Find people like you, who enjoy the same things as you.

Realise that no matter what, no one can live up to anyone else's expectations - even yours.

Also - you can not control the people around you, only your choices and actions.

no, i don't think there are techniques...you just have high standards. if your friends don't act the way you might want them to or the way you act with them, you will eventually get used to it, and you won't realise it but your expectations will be lower.

Some people will let you down, others will not. My girlfriend always says 'don't hold your breath' whenever anyone promises anything....it's a good way to look at life. Either that or get new friends....

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was "Be high in motivation and low in expectation"

Of Course!!!! When you do something for any one, do not have any expectations. if you feel from your heart, then only should you do it. this will make you happy.
