he will continue to wake for the feeding as long as you continue to give it to him. let him cry and wait 15 min if he is still crying go comfort him and calm him but try not to pick him up, when he is calm walk out and give it 15 minutes again. keep repeating this and I promise it will take less than 3 to 4 nights and things will be better and you will get some sleep. At 6 mos old babies do not need to be fed all night long. it is a pattern that only you can break. it is hard and you may cry but it is worth it in the end.

What young boy does not want to nurse, or old one for that matter? You are teaching him what to do. He does not need feeding every hour and all y ou are doing by giving in to it is teaching him to want to do it more. If you do not give it to him but every four hours during the day and not at night when he should be sleeping, he will tire of it and go back to sleep and learn that he is not going to get it at night so he will learn to sleep during the night and get some during the day only. No kid of that age should be up every hour but should be sleeping through the night. Only if you choose to follow the advice here will you get a good nights sleep and he will learn to sleep through the night also.

It could be that he is just going through a growth spurt that needs a little extra food. He might just want a cuddle with mommy, also. You could try giving him a bit of boiled water and see if he doesn't fall back asleep after a bit. I don't know your feelings on co-sleeping, but you might consider bringing him to bed with you so the nursing is easier on you.
I don't think there's anything wrong, if you don't mind waking up every hour.

How long does he nurse? If he nurses a long time, then he's still hungry when he goes to bed. Maybe give him a little rice cereal before bed.

If he doesn't nurse very long, he probably just needs to be soothe to sleep. Try giving him water or a pacifier to suck on so that he doesn't get used to eating every time he wakes up.

Good luck!

It is a habit now. He has to learn to put himself back to sleep. I had to make each of my children "cry it out". It usually takes about three nights. I would put them to bed awake and not go back in until about 7 hours later. Yes they cry and get upset, but they need to sleep and you do to. When we had our first child we were living in a one bedroom condo, so he was sleeping in the living room. It can be done, I know it is controversial but it was the only thing that worked for me. Good luck.

maybe breastmilk is not filling him up enough. Around 6 mths their activity level (physical and mental) really increases, Increased energy level means need for increased nutritional intake. Also, cut down a little on afternoon naptime, and try to keep him up a little later at night if practical. Good Luck

Maybe he needs comforting and is a little hungry. Try rocking him or walking him around over your shoulder. Or when he is lying down, lightly rub his back and sing or talk to him.

sounds like he needs more than he's getting from nursing. id he was satisfied he wouldn't be hungry in an hour.
