Don't just say "times" without an explanation. It seems like the obvious choice at first, but hear me out.

"One times ten" absolutely sounds a lot more natural, but it conflicts with everything I know about language. "Times" isn't a verb, after all; "six times three" is just an archaic inversion of "three, six times," right? So if 1x10 would be "ten, one time," wouldn't it also be "one time ten?" You certainly can't say "ten, one times."

Well put it this way.

You're getting the answer from a "Times Table"

Sometimes You have to go against english rules when it comes to math.

But you can say it both ways.

Do what you want.

Who cares.

All of math is based on the number theory anyway. They decided to mess up the english language in the process. Keep in mind that math didn't orginate in an English speaking area. And most people who write math, don't have english as their first language.

One times ten. Just accept the bad English; it's math. Wait til you get into Linguistics - the English is an absolute mess!
