Pap test can save your life. It can find the earliest signs of cervical cancer - a common cancer in women. If caught early, the chance of curing cervical cancer is very high. Pap tests also can find infections and abnormal cervical cells that can turn into cancer cells. Treatment can prevent most cases of cervical cancer from developing.
Getting regular Pap tests is the best thing you can do to prevent cervical cancer. About 13,000 women in America will find out they have cervical cancer this year. And in 2004, 3,500 women died from cervical cancer in the United States.

I'm very confused because all of the good answers received a thumbs down. They are all correct when they say that you need to get a pap smear regardless of your sex life. This can save you from a lot of pain and even death from various diseases. The most obvious thing that is checks for is cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can hit anybody, regardless of sexual history. That's why they tell girls start their check ups by the time they are 18 regardless of sexual history. I'm a fan of girls starting even younger because there are more and more cases of women getting cervical cancer at young ages.

It is recommended to start getting PAP tests once you become 18... whether you are sexually active or not.
It's a good way to check cells 'up in there' to see if there are any precancerous or questionable ones....your doctor can monitor any change (good or bad).
The discharge may be hormonal but it should concern you enough to get it checked out...better earlier than later.
Good luck, hope it isn't anything serious.

not only do you need to go get a pap smear but you also need a mammogram ASAP! Pap smears have nothing to do with being sexually active--they check for cancers of the cervix, etc. not who you did or did not sleep with!
Discharge? That is one of the number one signs of breast cancer. I SAID BREAST CANCER! GO SEE A DOCTOR!
GO! GO NOW!

Yes.....Yes...Yes. The pap smear is to check for cervical cancer, it is a necessary thing to have on a regular basis. However, with the discharge, you need to go and see your doctor right away to make sure you are ok.

How old are you sweetie? If you've started to menstruate, you should have your first OBGYN exam around age 17. If you have a female problem, such as the discharge, you should schedule an OBGYN exam right away. I would include the pap smear if you haven't had one recently (or at all).

The most important thing is for you to be healthy, whether you have been sexually active or not is not the issue. See a doctor, I don't know how old you are, you might just be having a harmless discharge because of hormonal changes in your body. See a doctor and be safe,
Merry Christmas.

Good question. It looks like you would be at an almost 0% chance of HPV, though you still would want to see your doctor. Discharge from your breasts could be any number of unrelated things.
