Yes, but the left and right differ on whether this a good thing. I don't believe most conservatives-or anyone- realize their taxes have at the least, stayed the same. Indirect taxation is considered less fair by many, because it's hard to decipher how much you really paid. That's the point of lowering direct taxes while raising indirect taxes-nobody notices.

This is economically justified. Sales based taxes don't discourage hard work. People are allowed to keep their wages but pay taxes when they spend instead. This encourages hard work and saving.

The evangelicals have hijacked the Republican party and turned it socially authoritarian and fiscally out of fvcking control. I'd rather have tax-and-spend than borrow-out-the-@ss-and-spend. Why are we "staying the course" with failed economic policies that have put us TRILLIONS IN DEBT to China?
