Probably because of the US Constitution, which prohibits discrimination on the grounds of creed.

I am a Christian, and I don't believe in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. My allegiance belongs to God and God only.

God wasn't orginally part of the pledge . Our forefathers purposely left it out of the Declaration of Independence so they wouldn't be forcing any kind religion onto anyone or establishing one. They used Creator to refer to one's Creator rather it was God or not. Matter of fact, the floating eye of one the one dollar bill was chosen as a way of saying that someone or something is watching over you without establishing a certain religion just recognizing a higher power.
Putting God in the pledge walks a very fine line in establishing a religion. They are probably trying to keep the government from establishing a religion is why they want to remove it from the Pledge.

actually its liberals who want to take God out of the dollar bill and the pledge of allegiance. I mean for goodness sake, we are in the middle of a war, this pettiness needs to stay in the closet!

First off, the original pledge didn't contain the line "under God", that was added in the 50s. so aren't they trying to RESTORE the pledge?

Check your facts it is the Liberal Democrats that want to take religion out of schools and take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance.
