Usually it's considered a "fix-it" ticket. As long as you trim the tint back to legal limits, you only need to pay $10 to $15 "admin fee", and get a police officer to sign off that you "did" fix it.

You don't say where you live. Heck, for all I know, you live in a place where you will have your butt "caned" or something.

Here in Michigan, it's a "fixit" ticket. You simply have to remove it. In hot-weather states, tinted windows are pretty much the norm, so there are fewer penalties.

When we bought a fully-tinted VW Jetta (with wing and rims), my wife was pulled over 3 times in the first month for bogus stuff (she's 44, and drives like she's 84). The local cops just thought she was a drug dealer, and was checkin her out. We pulled the tint off of the front side windows, and the cops were happy.

My fine was 156.60 for 19% tint. but fines vary for the percentage of tint and the area your in. I got my fine in the green bay area from a state cop.

probably depends on where you live, how dark the tint is, and the mood of the officer that pulls you over for it.
