Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson

This is about the Yellow Fever outbreak in Philadelphia told from the point of view of 16 year old girl who lives in the City. Its a great book, written by the same woman who wrote Speak (finalist for National Book Award.) It is historical fiction and totally appropriate for school.

"Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield is excellent. It is about the Battle of Thermopylae where 300 Spartans stood against the Persian army. It is very detailed but I didn't find it too graphic.

"I, Claudius" by Robert Graves is also very good. There was a mini series back in the 70s based on this novel. It's about the Emperor Claudius.

Ann Rinaldi has written loads of good teenager historic fiction. I used to study them perpetually and can opt to reread some. greater grownup is The Historian via Elizabeth Kostova. it quite is have been given the two historic previous and secret in it. Novels via the Bronte sisters must be exciting for you besides!

Sort of a contradiction in terms, I would think. The problem with most fiction based on historical "fact" is , a lot of the fact is also fiction !!.......Try a non fiction book. The truth can be even more entertaining. Dar.
