2. Solve for d: (5/3)d + 2 = p
(5/3)d = - 2 + p
d= (3/5) ( -2+p)
d=-6/5 + 3p/5.

6.Solve: (1/y) - (2/3) = (1/4)
1/y= 2/3 + 1/4
1/y = (8 + 3 )/12 =11/12
so
y=12/11.

1. first: get rid of fractions > take the denominator and multiply them by everything:

5(3/5)(10x - 4) + 5(1/5) = 5(49)

Second: cancel "like" terms and combine remaining terms:

3(10x - 4) + 1 = 245
30x - 12 + 1 = 245
30x - 11 = 245

Third: add 11 to both sides > opposite side means opposite sign and solve for "x" by keepingit on one side and divide both sides by 30:

30x - 11 + 11 = 245 + 11
30x = 256
30x/3x = 256/30
x = 128/15

2. *follow the same format as number one.....

3. a - 7 = 4 and a - 7 = - 4 solve for "a" in both sets. I'll do the first set and you try the second :-) Add 7 to both sides:

a - 7 = 4
a - 7 + 7 = 4+7
a = 11

4. "follow the same format as number 3
6. *same format as number one.....

1. (3/5)(10x – 4) + 1/5 = 49

3(10x - 4) + 1 = 245 {multiply by 5}
30x - 12 + 1 = 245
30x - 11 = 245
30x = 256 {add 11}
x = 256/30 = 128/15

2. (5/3)d + 2 = p

5d + 6 = 3p {multiply by 3}
5d = 3p - 6 {subtract 6}
d = (3p - 6)/5 {divide by 5}

3. | a – 7 | = 4

If |x| = 4, then x can be either 4 or - 4

a - 7 = 4
a = 11

a - 7 = - 4
a = 3

4. - Don't see what you intend here

5. - You must haave the formula - just apply it

6.Solve: (1/y) - (2/3) = (1/4)

The LCD of the fractions is 12y

12 - 8y = 3y {multiply by 12y}
12 = 11y {add 8y}
12/11 = y {divide by 11}
