She's right ... Southwest is definitely the fastest.
Now, if you mean the fastest route to DRIVE in a car ... no brainer. Go north on I-5 until you see the I-580 split in the valley. Follow I-580 to Oakland ... about 470 miles ... 7 hours if you have no traffic, drive about the limit, and don't stop.


Red in San Diego must not know how to read a map or a question. The asker doesn't want to go TO San Diego, but FROM San Diego TO Oakland. I-5 doesn't go anywhere near Oakland ... it splits off about 80 miles east, near Tracy.

Southwest Airlines will get you here to Oakland in an hour and 15 minutes. Depending on weather conditions it may be a shorter flight.

Air is the fastest, but may not be the cheapest unless you find a really good deal. Try Southwest or United's Ted.

the correct answer is southwest airlines....i believe it take about 1 hour and 10 minutes depending on how the wind is blowing.......
