...I was thinking a strappy dress with heels, or more like business casual attire...?

Well, if this club is like all of the others that I have been to, both of your suggestions would work just fine.

Most jazz clubs have a dressy, classy style and similar attire is appreciated. You will see people in varying levels of formality, but you would not be out of place in a dress. Many men wear suits or a shirt and tie, and most women will wear a dress or skirt and top, black pants and top, etc.

The only thing I would advise against would be dressing extremely casual (i.e. wearing jeans, t-shirts, etc.) If you do decide to wear a dress, you may want to bring a wrap or a sweater just in case it is cold; I always find that these clubs, much like movie theaters are always chilly.

Have fun... it's a great time!

Jeria : according to "Fashions of Today"
you can wear nice jeans and regular blouse with leather boots
which it would be best for jazzclub too!

Whatever you feel like, hat is what a jazz club is about.
