Okay so I have yet to get my parents a gift for christmas..

my mom is about 45 or so years old... she works in OBGYN or whatever its called... so I don't know how strict their dress code is... and I got her scrubs a couple of years ago and she has yet to wear them... so yeah... she likes stargate and egyptian stuff, but the only thing stargate around here are the boxsets which she has already and the only shop I knew that had egyptain stuff closed.

my dad is around 40 and is a mechanic... so that means grease, oil, muck and dirt is always getting all over... he works out in the freezing cold sometimes but always complains how gloves get caught up on nuts and such..

what to get them last minute and not cost an arm and a leg?

Maybe write them each a letter telling them how much they mean to you? That is all I can think of. Anything else would really just be junk you already have around the house. Oh, if you have some epsom salt and some perfume you could make some bath salts for your mom. (not regular table salt though... has to be epsom) you could also maybe find a recipe online for a sugar body scrub. See if you have the ingredients.

Gift certificates for your Dad to a place that sells tools, Sears, Home Depot, Lowes. For your mom, a gift certificate to a a place that sells nursing outfits and things she may need for her job.

Get them a gift that they can use and enjoy together, what do your parents do together in their off time from work?

How about a gift certificate for dinner at a nice restaurant in your area?

A pair of nice comfy houseshoes for Mom's feet when she gets home from work
A massage thing to put in Dad's chair for his back when he FINALLY gets a chance to sit down and try to relax
(both items can be gotten at WalMart fairly inexpensively)

Your dad is easy! Get him a calendar with swim suit models on them! NOT NAKED girls- but swim suit models for his garage! ALL mechanics have them! Your mom? Im 41 and last year my son got me a wicker basket and he filled it with different bubble baths, scented lotions, and scented candles topped with a nice comphy pair of jammies! ALL women love to soak in a hot bubble bath with candle lite! Its totally relaxing and she has a stressful job so Im sure she would love it! AVOID getting tools for your dad- he is a mechanic and only uses the BEST since its his career and they r EXPENSIVE! Good Luck and Merry Christmas sweetheart! They will love anything that comes from your heart! How about like a JOINT family present like a board game with a few coupons on top from YOU saying good for family game night. That way its family time u r giving them! My family loves to play Uno attack and Yahtzee attack! Plus it gives us time to laugh and have fun together!

If you can afford it get them a weekend package in a neighboring city or something where they can get away from it all for a little while. They will be sure to appreciate yout thoughtfulness.
