Any team can beat any team. Well just about.

Yes, I'm very happy about it, that's what makes the NFL so exciting to watch every year as there are no "sure" winners, any team can go to the top, or bottom, on any given year. I would like to see that happen with other sports as well.

I am of two minds on this issue. On the one hand, each off season through free agency and the draft, any team can put itself in contention for a play-off spot. On the other, I believe there is something to be said for organizations which build from within and create great teams. As a fan, you can follow that team and those players as the team gels, then becomes a contender and then a favorite.

Before the Doomsday years, Dallas had been an expansion team without even participating in the college draft its first year. Before the Steel Curtain years, Pittsburgh was a laughing stock. They were so bad in 1960 that the aforementioned expansion Cowboys tied them enroute to the Cowboys' 0-11-1 record. In the eighties, the Cowboys went down the tubes only to re-emerge as the team of the 90's.

I used to be intrigued by certain matchups back in the day. The Steelers-Raiders in the 70's was a must watch, even though I didn't like either team. I don't get that feeling anymore. Even a match up between the Chargers and Ravens (IMHO the best two teams in the NFL) would not get me to the TV. I basically watch my team and that is about it. Parity has created a chance for all teams to be good, but removed any team from a chance at greatness.

Maybe they could change the name of the Super Bowl to the Just So-So Bowl and it would be more fitting.

Any team really should be able to beat any team. Actually that is in ALL sports. Come on the Pirates beat the Yankees in 2005. Talking about one of the worst teams lately beating one of the best. Heck they should have taken 2 of 3 in that series but that is another arguement. Anyway the idea that any team can beat any other team is fine. You know what though, you still have your powerhouse teams. Your teams that tend to win and get the job done. I prefer the parity version to one or two teams going like 14-2 every year though. It makes the race to the playoffs that much more exciting.

I think it has alot to do with egos.

Take for example the Colts vs Texans. I dont the Texas would stand a chance if the Colts put there all into it. I think you are seeing alot of upsets this year because teams go on cruise control and dont think the poorer teams can beat them . In other words they get to full of themselves.

But the bottem line is that every player in the NFL is a star athelete and capable of winning games. If a good team lets up just a little bit, a bad team will be able to beat them.

No, parity sucks. It's good for the game to have a dominating franchise like the Steelers of the 70s, the 49ers of the 80s, the Cowboys of the early 90s and the Patriots of the early 00s.

it's great. it keeps fans interested. even if a team suffers this year, they enter next year with hope (unless you are detroit who sucks every year)

love the scheduling system that allows weak teams to play other weak teams.. likewise, great that all division winners play each other the next year.. makes it interesting.

only thing that sucks is that the AFC is way better than NFC. a team like Denver or KC have to play SD twice and each other twice, and that makes it tougher to win games.. even at 7-7, KC would still be playoff bound if they were in NFC.

What's wrong with that? It's better without three teams that dominate the league while the rest are easy feedings.

You sound like one of those clowns that listens to Jim Rome.
