I need help about the heater part. Is it a heating lamp or do you install it onto the tank or something?

so i go to petco buy a heating lamp and then thats it? i dont need a weird big black thing stuck to my tank to warm the water?

it's a heating lamp that you shine in one spot like a rock in the water, it's called a basking rock. or you can get a rock with a heater already in it. you need one or else they will die because they are cold blooded reptiles that need to warm their body up by direct heat

If they are water turtles, you just get one of those tube-type electric heaters that has suction cups to hold it to the side of the tank underwater. If they are more like tortoises, you should get a basking lamp that clips onto the side of your tank. Just be sure to position it to one side, so they can get into the shade if they need to. Also be sure they have access to plenty of water, since heat lamps tend to evaporate it quickly.

i have to turtles what we have is the heater pad goes undler just plug it in and put the tank ove rit and the lamp should have a hook think to install inside the lid

get a lid with a light built in that is what we have done also get a floating heater to make sure the water is maintaining the right temp...depending on where you live you may need to put an imersible heater in...you also should have a filter in your tank and a floating dock or rock that they can bask and eat on.....

it depends on what type of turtles you have. my friends turtles just use a heat lamp.

get a rock heater and a grow bulb for there natural light good luck with them they are great to watch

you get a lamp but you can also get a thing that will be on the floor to keep it warmer

Well its good to give them light and warmth but throw a log in for their fun and its pretty good to feed them (i think that right now cause im hungry)
