Obviously the egg, since the two parents would have intercourse, and their genetic material would come together, and some sort of mutation would occur which would bring about the first Chicken. This first Chicken would then be in the egg, waiting to hatch. This thereby answers this old question, which really should never have been asked again once evolution gained credence. (This is of course only true if by this question we mean the Chicken or the Chicken egg. If you mean chickens and eggs in general, then eggs predate chickens by millions of years.)

The egg did.
The chickens ancestors would have laid eggs and those eggs would have hatched into chicken ancestors, but eventually one would have changed, or evolved as we call it, and the chicken we know today would have been born from an egg.
Therefore the egg came first.

What do know? The egg, of course!
Whereas, the chicken is just a clever method used by an egg to produce yet another egg. Smart isn't it?

the egg. it is known many creatures before chickens layed eggs for example dinosaurs. so what ever the chicken evolved from layed the egg. however there had already been eggs for millions of years before the first chicken

Obviously the egg did as it was a mutant creature (probably due to inter breeding) that laid the egg for which the chicken hatched. The chicken obviously was strong and survival of the fittest and all that. The Chicken just keeps on producing the eggs as laid by the mutant creature.

The chicken came first because whatever the chicken was before it evolved into a chicken came first.

In the bed was a chicken fast asleep next to an egg that was looking very cross and unsatisfied. "I guess we have answered that question!" said the egg.

I'd say the chicken because the chicken must of been born without a shell at first then evolved into being shell-born...
