I have a 13 yr old and a 11 yr old. They have to get up at 7 a.m. I let them go to bed at 11:00 p.m. Someone told me that is way too late. What do you think?

It really is too late. Recent studies indicate that children need from 9 up to 12 hours of sleep. Now that may seem excessive, but it really depends on the child. If s/he can handle just the 9 hours, go for it. However, if s/he is an annoying child, go for the full 12 hours. It will make a difference in the quality of both your lives.

I have a 3 and 5 year old and they go to bed at 10:00 p.m. Of course I can't put them to bed any sooner. They have a tendency to get up after 6 hours of sleep.
But really, If it is working for you and your children why are you worried about what others are saying?

Mine are 12. They go to bed at 9:00. They have to be up at 6:30. It really depends on the child. If they seem rested when they wake up I wouldn't worry to much.

Children need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep. It is better to get 10-12 hours of sleep. I would use there grades as a gage for when to get to bed. If they are not doing well in school it is most likely they need more sleep.

It sounds a little late, not too bad. My son is 8 he gets up at 7:15 he goes to bed at 8:30. Thats just me, anytime after that he intrudes on 'mommy time'.

My son is 14 and he needs to get up at 6:30, so his bedtime is 10pm and not a minute later.
It really effects their concentration when they don't get enough sleep. It is also unhealthy and besides, when he gets older, and I don't have that much control. He will go to bed later, sleep less and then it HIS problem, not mine..lol

My son is 2 1/2, and he will only go to bed around 9 a.m. (he won't fall asleep if we put him down any earlier)
