my boyfriend has seen a lot of people die in the matter of a few months (especially his neighbor that he grew up with), and then 2 nights ago cos he's a maintenance guy for some apartments, he had to open an apartment for a relative, and he saw a dead person, blue in the face, dead for like 1and half days.
We had a small arguement yesterday, whereby I told him he had hurt my feelings... and it escalated, we were outside his mom's house so I said I want to go home, and then he was being mean, so anyway I told him I'd like to walk home. And he basically forced me to stay inside the car and was driving crazy and shouting at me. So I hit him, because I wanted out, and he HIT ME back hard.
When I asked him why, he told me he's confused.
What should I do?

You deserved it. You put yourself in the position to get hit, by hitting him. You women want to be treated equal, well there you go. Expect the negative aspects along with the positives of equality. Also, he just did it because he loves you. Just a different way of showing it.

You two shouldnt be together. Abuse either way is wrong it doesnt matter if its a man or woman. And dealing with death does not justify abuse in any way shap or form. Its something we all have to deal with, its apart of life. But abuse on the other hand isnt something we have to deal with. Your lucky it didnt go beyond that. One time is one time too many. Next time you may not be here to put it up on yahoo. And more than likely there will be a next time. The question is do u want this in your life?

While I agree that a man should NEVER hit a woman, the same goes for women hitting men. Believe me, if it happened once, it will happen again...and it will get easier to make an exuces each time. So what's going to be the reason next time? There was a spot on his fork or you left a hair in the sink? If you want to keep him, tell him to get some help. If he wont, drop him.

There is no good reason to hit anyone unless you are defending yourself! He may have been abused when he was younger and that is what he learned! Abuse is a domino affect...it's a cycle!!! You should not put up with it...sounds like he needs counciling! I definitely would not allow my face to be his punching bag! Get out now sweetie!!! There are plenty of guys out there that do not hit each other or girls!

HELL NO... you need to end this FAST. NO man should ever hit you... not even once!! The first time should be the last. Tell him that you will not be disrespected in that way and if he does not want to get professional help than you 2 are done. Do not become a woman you gets beaten up!! You are stronger that that!!

We have dead people and slapping and I don't see a connection here other than he is freaked out over what he has been through--but here's the catch--why did you ever get into his car if you wanted to walk home to begin with?? Maybe you need to suggest to him he needs to talk to someone about the recent events he has had to endure--sounds like he isn't handling them very well and you are his target for release--that cant be good

Run, honey, as fast as you can. This is how it started for me. My ex and I were messing around, and I bit his hand and he slapped me across the face. Then it escalated to choking, throwing, isolating me f/ family and friends. It ended when he backhanded me. I had enough after 6 yrs and 2 children, 9 times that he cheated and numerous friends that he pushed away. Don't let him destroy you or your self-esteem. No matter what is happening in his life, there is never, never an excuse to abuse you. Be happy, and healthy, be safe.

well you should never let any sort of abuse go unnoticed.. whether it be verbal or physical.. you should talk to him and see about anger classes or something like that.. and you should not have hit him first.. not unless it was in self defense.. but just because he has had a bad few days does not mean that he can take it out on you in any way..

Ask yourself if you love him.

If you do and he does as well, give it a time out, let him settle his thoughts.

Communicate through phone, or write notes to each other. Sometimes, the tone of a person's conversation, if perceive wrongly.

Try to be there to comfort him as much as you can.

Death is a painful experience, so don't expect him to behave normal, that itself is abnormal.

Take care

Thank God you found out how he handles stress before you married him or something.

DUMP HIM NOW.

Don't play any silly games...say good bye and do not speak to him again. He is a control freak if you give him an opening he will do everything in his power to change your mind and he will eventually hurt you badly.
