Oh, happy happy happy absolutely it is. I just can't have it this year in case it chokes my kitten. But normally I would be fully tinselled up at this time of year. It has to be really thick though, not that nasty cheap stuff that is really flimsy. Nope, got to be thick, quality and in a good colour.

I would say 'kitschy' more than anything else. When I was young a looooong time ago, we had one of those silver tinsel Christmas trees that had a wooden pole like a broomstick for the trunk with holes drilled into it at angles for the 'branches' to be put in.
No, I didn't live in a trailer park, we lived in a house in Miami, Fla., and I didn't realize it was tacky at the time, but I would have one now, just for sentimental reasons, and to remember how far I've come.

Happy! Tinsel is just a part of christmas, and it makes your house feel christmassy! Obviously you can go overboard by having too much tinsel which can look tacky though!

I don't mind tinsel, but as with most things, you can easily go way overboard. Too much of anything shiny and sparkly is just tacky.

I don't think anyone should consider it tacky. For many years all of the stuff that we have today was not available. If people have a tradition of using tinsel which bring's back great memories for them then who is anyone to judge? Especially at this time of the year, OMG the last thing I think we should eb doing is going around thinking people's tree's are tacky. I have white lights, silver and blue bulbs, and some silver bows on my tree. Probably cost about 100.00 dollars to decorate. Not everyone has extra money to buy lavish stuff for their tree's. Especially people with lot's of children on a limited income. I say happy! '-)

In moderation, tinsel is fine. However, when you go throwing big, clumpy, blinding, shimmering globs of it in the general direction of the tree and just let it land where it may, well, then it is tacky.
