80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

Death.
There is but one truth and that is that we will all die. What happens between the time we take out first breath and last, is life. Meaning can only be found with what we do with those precious seconds in between. Some seek success, some follow envy and greed and personnel enjoyment. Everyone has their own wants and desires. I believe that what makes us is what we do, how we live, how we treat our fellow man. When I stand before the creator I wish to say that I lived a good, full, honorable life, that my brethren did not suffer of me, that my wealth was kinship Friend ship, that I was a good son, husband, and father.
Otherwise we are just here to feed the worms.

I think the meaning of life is whatever you want it to be. For me, the meaning of life would be to be a faithful servant to God and go to Heaven when I die. For others, it could be about reaching their spiritual awareness, discovering a new element, making history, or other great achievements. So I think it's just different for everybody.

To fuc k and reproduce to carry on the species.
To survive.
that is the meaning of life. What did you think you were special?
What makes humans better than sharks or tortuises that have been around for millions of years longer than us?
Fact is we compete with species who are much more successfull life forms than us as they are so well suited to thier environment and survival that they are actually better than us, until we are around for a couple hundred million years, then we can talk.

Is philosophizing a waste of a life, or merely a way to connect with it, in the self, in detours?

You give your own life meaning. Do not allow ANYONE to define what your life is. It is up to each of us to direct our own course and give our lives meaning.
