I didn't approve of that either, but I assume she "let go of her past." Leaving her heart with Jack, you know? Still, it's priceless, it was worn by royalty, it's beautiful, it's memories of Jack, and she drops it overboard.

Because she is a grumpy old woman who didn't like to get interrupted while she was telling a story, so she got back at Bill Paxton by throwing it overboard. What a bum.

I don't think it made sense. It would've been better if she gave it to her grandchild! Some things in movies don't really make sense in real life.

That really made absolutely NO kinda sense to me.

This is WHY old people should NOT be allowed to handle precious jewelry.

She wanted jack to have it and that was why most of her and her ex was fighting about most of the movie.

She was senile and thought she was giving it to Posiedon in payment for saving her from the Kraken. Oh, and the entire movie was the ranting and raving of a senile old woman.
