The second Christmas I was married, I was pregnant with my first child. On Christmas Eve my husband insisted that I open a gift before bed. I didn't know why. It was a tiny, soft little yellow duck that played nursery rhymes, and it was his first gift to our new baby. It was so touching, because he had said he and his family didn't really believe in gifts for a baby before it was born, because it was supposed to be bad luck and so on. But he knew I didn't feel that way, so he got it as a surprise. She still has it in her baby box of mementos.

His being able to make it to the birth of our 3rd oldest child...our main car had been in a hit and run a few days previous and our 2nd car ended up with brake failure...there was an intense snow storm and he still had to pick up our two oldest from school so after he was certain I was settled in at the hospital he left to pick up a rental and bring the kids back to the hospital.
Just as I was being taken into delivery he came rushing up yelling "I'm here, I'm here! Don't go in there yet!" they scooted him away to get into scrubs and he was back beside me to greet our newest child's arrival into the world.
That son just celebrated his 19th birthday Dec 17. :)
