Americans don't seem to be trying hard enough in trying to fix their poor international image. There's many things that the United States could do to help repair their poor international image. Learn that there's actually other countries in the world other than you, convert to the metric system, find out where Australia is, learn to strengthen your relations with your few allies especially Australia, stop being so ignorant, stop being bible-bashing conservatives, stop condemning communism without first condemning capitalism, stop being warmongers, etc. etc.

Abu: Didn't you hear what Bono said? The only reason that it seems the United States are giving a lot of aid is because of their large population. By capita they're hardly giving a dime.

We do so much to help the rest of the world. Our reputation isn't our problem but yours. Our reputation is a problem mostly because other peoples are jealous.

Well we might find Australia if they would do something interesting now and then again, rather then just sit in the Outback and drink beer all day!, O wait you didn't like that comment, hmm well it's just as ignorant and arrogant as your bible thumping comment.
1) The reason we don't switch to the metric systems is because it would be too costly and the benefits don't out weight the costs. It's the same reason we choose to drive on the right hand side of the road. Besides for most things scientific we do use the metric system.
2) We are aware that there are other countries out there besides the US however it seems that the "other" countries are not very concerned about US interests or securities, nor would we expect them to be. Don't be upset because we look after our own interests first.
3) Even though we look after our own interests first we also have a reputation for being the "world's policeman" and quite honestly that does demonstrate our recognition that are other countries out there and how we attempt to provide global security. You just let me know when another country steps up enough to get that type of reputation.
4) I'm sorry FEW allies? Ever hear of NATO?
5) Why don't we bash capitalism first? well because we are a capitalist nation...And besides why don't you take a page from your own book and bash Australia before you Bash the US?
I could go on but I won't....I have yet to see Australia do anything significant to end any of the conflict issues in the middle east or to help resolve the Nuclear crisis in North Korea. So yeah the US is making mistakes and we are aware of that and working to change congress and the politicians to meet the will of the people. But at least we are doing something. So rather then blame us for what we are doing wrong why don't you ask allot of the other countries why they are doing nothing? Like for instance Australia? Unless you think the Australians can't do anything without the US?

Do some research and see how much Americans have donated to other countries. Those same countries complain about the US, so there isn't much we can do.

HAHAHAHA. You just used Bono for a source. How can anyone listen to the garbage that spews from his mouth? LMAO

I just can't get enough of this Bono stuff. I keep coming back and I keep laughing. If something depresses me I'll just come back to this question and read the part where this guy actually thinks Bono makes valid points. HAHAHA. My stomach hurts from laughing so hard.

I know where Australia is. Why should we convert to metric? I'm not ignorant, nor am I a bible thumper. You have the right to not like Americans. Although I have the right to tell you to kiss my ***. If the world was so great, why are so many trying to get into the US? Arrogant? You bet.

We have bigger problems than what the world thinks of us. And when the rest of the world wants to stop taking our money and stop asking us for help...well, you know. By the way, we are a country built on immigration, so we are plenty awars of other countries out there. We lived there, until they were unlivable, and we left. Yep.

How exactly does converting to the metric system benefit the world? My pastry chef (french) taught us everything in farenheit, because the celsius system is not as accurate...

Sure, criticize away, afterall, you are all just a bunch of convicts excommunicated from the real world. This is fun, isn't it?

Right on buddy! AMEN!! I couldn't agree with u more. Even though many Americans keep on thinking the rest of the world envies them, they couldn't be more wrong. They r as ignorant as to believe they r the only country that actually has strong moral values and want to spread them all over the world just like any other empire did throughout history. They claim for worldwide disarmament and the danger of WMD, but The US has been the only country to drop 2 atomic bombs killing millions of people under the false pretext to put an end to the II World war or The US just invades foreign countries "to spread democracy" but tortures and kills civilians out of this bloody war for oil.
The rest of the world is already aware of this, and that is why their international reputation is even worse than poor..
If some Americans really believe their country is so ready to help poor nations why dont they urge their goverment to help in the current genocide in Sudan?

Haven't you learned??? Americans are never, ever, EVER wrong!
That's why the metric system is useless,
Bombing developing nations is a sign of our endless power,
English is the greatest language in the world and whoever doesn't know it is an imbecile,
Only WE have Freedom of Speech and a constitution,
Baseball is the greatest sport in the world,
We Americans are obese because we're successful,
the world WAS created in 6 days and is only 6000 years old,
and foreigners curse their heritage and wishing - no - DYING to be Americans!!!!

(My friend, look at all the other answers -- it's pointless. You will not get Americans to change their point of view)

Because the opinions of foreigners, especially foreigners like you, doesn't mean squatshit. Why should I give a rat's tail what you think of my country? Do you care what I think of yours?

As for the rest of your recommendations, thanks for your kind thoughts, but no thanks. We've been doing quite well for ourselves without turning ourselves into socialist atheist wankers.

Our purpose in this world is not to get everyone to like us. That's why.

Appeasement is for cowards, and international opinion should not dictate our policies.
