Having taught geometry for 20 years I am biased toward the positive . Geometry teaches you totally different skills from algebra. Geometry teaches you how to think in a logical process. It takes given information and teaches you how to process that information and use it to get what you need from it. Geometry gives you a toolkit that you can use to build whatever you need. It helps you to be inventive.

I know that the college entrance exams use many problems that reference geometry problem solving skills; so it is important for that reason as well.
