Actually I like to think that giving is better however it is also very gratifying to receive. Not just for the gift but in society in general we have established a sense of feeling loved and needed if you will when we receive gifts so I think both are healthy. I beleive the more you give, the more you will receive in the long run, be it materialistically, spiritually, etc. So I guess my answer is to give. '-)

If you give thoughtful gifts, it is always better to give because you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have done something good for someone else...that you are a good person. When you receive you could have doubt as to whether you deserve the gift or if you need to reciprocate the gift.

It is better to receive gifts because there is an element of suprise and you are getting something (sometimes for nothing) that you might enjoy. Giving gifts might give you a nice feeling but it costs you $ and you might not get something in return.

I always feel happier inside when giving than receiving. The anticipation of deciding what to get, then getting it is like a quest. The swelling in my heart as they open something they want, especially if they thought they were not going to get it, is very intense. I can stay happy for weeks remembering that moment. I get the same feeling if they know who gave it or not.

I'd rather not get anything back because it makes me uncomfortable when someone gives me something expensive or something period because I honestly feel undeserving... People don't need to spend money on me to show that they care.
I like giving gifts but that also makes me uneasy because I don't want to be present or even in the vicinity when that person opens the gift. But it does make me happy that I can produce a gift, it takes me awhile to think them up.

To give gifts, Everytime I give gifts to the peole who have always been there for me , and for who I care about. When I see them smile and that gives me a nice warm joyful feeling inside.I dont really care if I get anything. I love to put pepole before myself.

Its better to give because of the joy and happieness that comes from it. As long as you give something thats not expensive. Something that means something. Like something you made yourself. A good idea is to restore a very old photo using Adobe Photoshop and print it and put it in a frame.
