I am going to get an iPod soon. I want to know if it is possible to ruin it by putting something on it from a source that had a virus or some other type of thing like that. If somebody put their music onto my computer so I can add it later, would those file contaminate my computer? As you can see, I am sort of new to iPod equipment so I thank you in advance for helping me. Have a good Christmas also!

Be cautious because it might...

I had an MP3 player before... I put in a video and then when i tried turning on my MP3, it wouldnt turn on. Even when i put brand new batteries in it~ the only time it would turn on was when i plugged it into my comp.. So i virus checked it [it did have a Trojan] and the virus checker took care of that.

So when i tried turning it on again. it did work! Sooo.. I'm not sure if this would apply to iPods too~

normally media files like .mp3 , .mp4, .wma files dont contain virus. but if u'r pc us affected by virus then how will u ensure that the viruses are not transmitted to the ipod? so be always careful with virus. now a days virus can harm pc, mobile phone, pda and why not IPOD ?

There are documented cases of viruses shipping from the factory on iPods AND cases where iPods were used to spread viruses. There are no documented cases where a virus has harmed an iPod.

An iPod can't catch a virus, as it is not a computer. Have fun!
