In my opinion people are not very well informed or are selective on what they read or they want to believe in something greater than them. They keep believing "The UFOs are coming"!!
The other reason is media which tries to fuel up small incidents and rarely examine the story beyond requirement. The only purpose being keeping viewers hooked or interested in all these events.
After all the flashing headline "Man Bites Dog"will sell more newspapers than a simple headline "Dog Bites Man".

It's weird that you asked this question. Well it is for me anyways. As a matter a fact I have seen a UFO. The weird part is, it was on Christmas day, and it appeared over a manger scene. I know this sounds whacked, and I wouldn't believe it either. Me and a friend of mine were driving home, and I was going to drop her off at her house, when it happened. She wanted to show me a house which was all lit up for Christmas. So, I stopped the car in front of this house. We sat and looked and they had it all decked out with a manger scene. I saw a bright light above the scene. I thought they had just put a bright light above this to represent the star the wise men followed. All of a sudden it started getting brighter and brighter. Then it started to wobble or shimmer and shake. I said, "Are you seeing what I'm seeing". Then it started to change colors, like all swirly. From bright white then red and blue. The thing is, it looked like it had no form. Then she freaked and said take me home. So, I proceeded to drive away and it started to follow us over the tops off the houses all the way to her house. I pulled into her drive way and it flew across the horse farm directly in front of her house. Now, I don't know what it was? But, it was definitely unidentified and it was flying. I can't say it was an alien craft, like little green men. But, alien can mean something out of the norm. I still talk to her, and every year around this time we bring it up. We just talked about it a couple days ago. You may not believe it, but we do. I wish whatever is going on, it would make it self known. I think they appear to those, who they choose to appear to. I think sometimes maybe it was Angelic, but I don't know ? I swear to you, that this story is true and has not been stretched in any way. It happened over ten years ago, but still haunts us today... I just thought it ironic this question was asked so close to Christmas.

For the same reason people believe in another topic that lacks plausible evidence, God. It's some thing you can't explain but your own explainations seems to always be the one that fits best. It give you something to hope for and many one day some one will build something that maybe will be able to reach intelligent life on other planets. Who knows, right?

Same reason people believe in the supernatural. There is not concrete evidence of ghosts or spirits but many still believe. Same thing with religion. It's human nature to be interested in the unknown.
There is much evidence of unidentified flying objects so people are wise to believe in them. Since they are unidentified, they could possibly be from an alien civilization that is beyond our comprehension. As long as there is the unknown, people will believe what they have been conditioned to believe.
Nobody knows if there is alien life out there, if there are ghosts among us, or if there is a supreme being and life after death. Everyone needs something to believe in.

I did not know that most sightings occured in the United States. If true, perhaps this is because the USA has more things of interest to the aliens, or because the USA has more of its population watching for them. Who knows how many sightins have been made in remote parts of the world and never reported because of a lack of communications?
I think most people would like to think that if there are other humans or lifeforms in our infinite universe they would like to communicate with them and hopefully learn more about our universe.

They see to observe them often I believe, if you pay the good attention of watching despairly the sky in search for the enlightenment of surrender or truth you will in turn find the appaling dismay of virtue in patience, lack not for belief or openmindedness, there could be some people out there who do not dwell in shop or plaster for a living, we are not all free. Blame the alien already.

i have seen something that has not been satisfactorily explained otherwise. i don't have any evidence, of course. it just was there, i wasn't looking for it or expecting it. i don't assume it was aliens, but it definitely took off into space.
there is no evidence for God other than peoples' experiences, and others' word for it. same for seeing something in the sky. i'm not saying i believe people who say they were abducted but like i said, i've never heard a good explanation to describe exactly what i saw.

People have an over reaching need to believe in something beyond their immediate surroundings. Whenever a vacuum occurs, if it cannot be explained imagination fills it.

Because lot's of people have seen things flying and no one could explane it. Even jet fighters have seen them and still no one can explane it. I believe there is something out there flying around.
