I have read the othe answers and they are all good. The best is probably getting the local newspaper listings cause most of the least expensive apts. are not listed in apartments.com, etc. But you would want to investigate all of the places the others suggested.
Another possibility is the Penny Saver. They are all over the place. Just call the office where you live now and ask them how to get info for the Tampa area.

I used rent.com. They have a good search engine, and if you list them with the apartment as how you heard about them, you get a $100 rebate.

you should go on google maps. put your work address and look for something close. when you get apartments close by call them and you will know if they have any vacancy or not.
