OPI at the nail salon. If at a drug store, I recommend Sally Hansen (sp?)

The salon brands seem to be the best. Essie, OPI or Dante. They can be bought in stores (Duane Reade carries them) Dante I've only seen in salons, though. They are a little prce for polish, but they have staying power.
(If you really want to seal the polish -go with Mavala Mavadry and or Colorfix. If you're polishing natural nails, use the Mavala base coat. It seriously makes the polish last longer [on natural nails]) My manicures last 2 - 3 weeks. I change it when it grows out. No chipping or wearing.

NYC brand lasts about 3-4 days depending on how much you do and its anywhere from $1-$2 at Walmart.
Rimmel ((my personal favorite)) lasts about 4-5 days prices ranging from $2- $4 at Walmart and they have a wide variety of colors.
I personally cant see the sense in spending alot on Opi. I think it lasts about the same amount of time as the others with less in the bottle for more money.
Hope this helps!

OPI seems to be very popular right now -- they have a wide range of colors.
Essie--for sheers/neutrals
Sally Hanson--for good base and top coats.
Chanel--expensive but nothing lasts longer without chipping and it's the only nail polish I have ever actually finished a bottle of (a few years after purchasing) and it never got thick and gunky.

I usually buy OPI and Finger Paints from Sally Beauty. I've found they last longer on my (natural) nails than drugstore brands. They cost a couple bucks more but are worth it.

A kid in my son's class did an experiment for science. The winner was Essie followed by O.P.I., both of which are used in nail salons. They lasted about 4 or 5 days without chipping.

OPI...that is the absolute best! That's the brand nail salons usually use when the are doing manicures...most salons sell it...even though it's $8. a bottle it's worth it
