May 1781 the Battle of Fort Lee. 300 Bergen County militia and 200 Loyalists. The fighting lasted five days. Nothing specifically happened IN Leonia, but I would assume plenty of those fighting were from there, and the wounded would have been sent there. The fighting may also have spilled over into neighboring villages, including Leonia, since it was a total 1.4 miles away.
