No, let her wait until she is old enough to decide she wants them for herself. The others posting here are right... wait until she's older, like over age seven. My parents did that, and I have never wanted my ears pierced, and they still aren't.

Most ear-piercing places will tell you to wait until three months. But in my opinion it's child abuse. I can't understand the mentality of someone who wants to get a baby's ears pierced. Why not her belly-button at the same time, or a nice tattoo.
Wait until she's old enough to make a decision for herself. A gift for Christmas? Are you mad?

I also plan to pierce my daughter's ear's around 3 mos old. For me, it's a cultural thing. I've got a Basque heritage, and over in Europe, piercing a baby's ears is quite normal.
Honestly, when they are tiny, it's the kindest time to do it. If you wait till they are an older infant, it's a bit more traumatic-- although my mother got mine pierced when I was two. I don't even remember it, so it couldn't have been too bad:)

I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was 8 weeks. It was a perfect time to do it. Since she was so young, she never played with them or tried taking them out. She is now 1 and just thinks they are a part of her ear! Most places want them to be 8 weeks, or until they've had their first set of shots.

Piercing infants ears isn't something new. My mom had my ears pierced whilst i replaced into approximately six months previous. That replaced into almost forty years in the past. In some cultures it quite is common to pierce infant ladies ears as quickly as they are born.

I pierced my daughters ears at 2 months and didn't have any problems. I think 2 or 3 months is good.

Six weeks is too young, but I don't think six months would be that bad. MY ears were pierced then and nothing happened, give me a break. For those who vote down because they don't agree, call it "child abuse", or the parent is "unfit" really need to get off the horse. I know what real child abuse is, and as ideologically polarizing as ear piercing is (which I didn't realize existed until I logged onto the intarwebs) it is NOT child abuse and to insinuate someone like my mother as an abuser is crazy.

Yes. Her immune system won't be fully developed until she is 6 months, so I would wait at least that long, if you really want to get them pierced while she is still a baby.
Personally, I think you should wait till she is 10 or 12, and ready to take care of the piercings herself. Let it be a reward for a certain level of responsibility.

I got my girls ears pierced when they were about 3 - 6 months old. Talk to your babies doctor some pierce ear in there office. They also say wait to they get there first set of shot. Some places wont unless they have had there shots. So talk to the doc to see what they say. For all you know they can do there selfs.

I had my daughters done at her 2 week check-up, but that was 24 years ago. Many doctors won't do it now until they are 3 months old, which is when we had my granddaughter's done.
Many people have different opinions but I feel if you have it done younger they are less likely to mess with the ears and less chance for infection. By the time they are older they are used to the earrings and seldom bother them.
If you have it done, have a doctor do it and YOU have to be very responsible. Whether the ears gets infected or not is completely in your hands. You must clean and turn them regularly or the earrings will grow into the ears.
